Samana mega program

Absolutely one of the two best possible versions of a trip to the Samana Peninsula. In the morning, departure from the hotel to the village of Las Canitas. Enjoy a fine continental breakfast in this charming seaside village. Then we will go to Cayo Levantado, also known as Bacardi Island. It owes its unofficial name to the famous rum, as one of its commercials was filmed at this location.

There will be time to sunbathe and admire Samana Bay. After this relaxation, we will sail to the Samana Peninsula, where a semi-open truck will be waiting for us. This is our third means of transportation of the day, which will take us to the village of El Limon. Along the way, you will admire the colonial buildings of the city of Samana and the beautiful route leading deep into the peninsula. When we get to the ranch, we get on a horse (this is a kind of “tourist” horse where each guide has a guide, so even people who have never ridden a horse and children can easily use this attraction) and together with the guides, we go on a trail in the rain through the forest, along the river and we admire the amazing wildlife. After about 20 minutes we arrive at the place, from where it is already 10 minutes. A 10-minute walk separates us from El Limon waterfall – one of the most beautiful places in this country! On the spot it is possible to bathe at the foot of the cascade. Then we will return to the ranch, where we will have delicious Dominican food.

After lunch we will drive to Samana. We will arrive at the port, from where we will sail to Los Haitises National Park. On the way we will admire the “Napoleon Bridge” and tiny, charming, Caribbean beaches. We arrive at Los Haitises National Park, which in our opinion is second only to Saône, the most important place to visit in the Dominican Republic. It is famous for: mangrove forests, caves of the Taino Indians, amazing islands in the form of rock formations covered with tropical vegetation. Many organizers do not include this attraction in the program during trips to the Samana Peninsula because of the cost. After visiting this unique place, we will sail to Sabana de la Mar, where a transport will be waiting for us to take you to the hotels.

Sometimes you wonder why we don’t have the so-called “Magic Mountains” in the program of the trip to Samana. The entrance to the mountain would have to be approx. 7 am and many times at this hour the entire hill is shrouded in fog and lots of clouds. Statistically, after 9, it starts to clear up there. Samana’s mega program trip and the attractions would not be exploring beautiful places, but rather a “race with a camera”.

And the last important aspect – next to the Mountain of the Witches there is a beach, one of the most beautiful beaches of the Dominican Republic – Playa Limon. It would be a sin not to visit this place, which is synonymous with the wild Caribbean beaches that are so close. Therefore, we also offer a half-day trip in an idyllic atmosphere, during which we will visit the Mountain of Witches and the mentioned Playa Limon.

Practical information:

The cruise across the bay takes place on a larger, stable and safe catamaran. This is especially important because Samana Bay is very unpredictable unlike the Bayahibe area (Saone cruise).

you can walk to the waterfall, in this case the tip above is not necessary
please bring comfortable shoes (can be sandals), socks (wellies if you don’t have sandals) and a change of clothes (weather can change)

For the trip, take a bathing suit, towels, hat or cap, socks – preferably knee highs, high SPF sunscreens / oils, a change of clothes, a raincoat.
